Big fun day planned at Schweitzer, with freebies | Events

After several stops and starts, it seems like the summer weather is finally here to stay.  Although by North Idaho standards, all that means is that it's probably not going to snow again until after Labor Day.  

Yes, our summers are short, and summer weekends tend to book up fast.  If you don't have plans yet for Saturday, June 30th, it would be tough to beat spending the day on Schweitzer Mountain.  That's the grand opening weekend for Schweitzer's summer operations.  Among the highlights:

• Free chairlifts on Great Escape Quad
• Free live music
• Arts & Crafts
• Wine Tasting
• BBQ
• Fun for the kids (bungee trampoline, climbing wall, and more) 

One important note: due to late-season snowpack, the trails aren't ready for mountain biking.  So no bikes will be allowed on the chairlifts on June 30th.  But with a beer in one hand and a pulled pork sandwich in the other, who could ride a mountain bike, anyway?
