The results are in from Saturday's annual Sand Creek Clean Up in downtown Sandpoint. Downtown Sandpoint Business Association and Lake Pend Oreille Waterkeeper teamed up with 37 local volunteers to remove a truck full of garbage in record time: just over an hour.

Volunteers met at Arlo's on First Avenue at 9 a.m. and proceeded to fan out along the creek between the Cedar Street Bridge and the Powerhouse to pick up 10 full bags of trash.

Representatives from local businesses, community organizations and area residents showed up to volunteer including Leadership Sandpoint, Sandpoint High School Key Club, Idaho Conservation League, Friends of Scotchman Peaks, Sandpoint Title, Seasons at Sandpoint and Mayor Gretchen Hellar and the dozens of other local residents who pitched in to help with the spring cleaning effort.

Unusual items found during the clean up included three rechargeable drill batteries, an antique medicine bottle and a whole Christmas Tree.
