Henry, more fondly known as Hank, was diagnosed with Cystinosis in November of 2007 at just 16-months old. Even before being diagnosed he was experiencing kidney failure from Fanconi Syndrome and Hypophosphatemic Rickets all stemming from his Cystinosis. His condition is terminal, but that doesn't mean he isn't a "happy and courageous little boy".
One of the many fundraisers created for 24 Hours for Hank is being held locally in Sandpoint at Schweitzer Mountain. For 24 hours, Schweitzer Mountain will be hosting the 3rd annual "24 hours of Schweitzer", a fundraiser for 24 Hours of Hank, in partnership with the Cystinosis Research Foundation.
24 Hours of Schweitzer is a team relay for skiers, telemark skiers and snowboarders. The goal is to make the most runs as possible on three different intermediate slopes. It begins Friday, April 1st and goes for, as the title says, an entire 24 hours. Dress warmly and be prepared for even the slightest change of weather.
