Kootenai Community Church has been fundrasing and slowly building a new location for 12 years. They are in the home stretch, and to raise money for the finishing costs, one community member has volunteered to shave his Sampson-like locks.

You may have met Ed Barba either working for Waste Management or working with Awana kids. In the last 20 years Barba has only cut his long hair twice, and the last time he went bald was as a child. When Bonnie Mauck asked if he'd be willing to face the razor he jumped on board.

“You know why not? For a good cause my hair will grow back...hopefully,” says Barba. Mauck and the Kootenai Community Church are hoping to raise $5,000 in pledges for Barba's hair, but he says he'll give it a shave no matter what.

The city of Hayden is hoping you'll go fly a kite.

The annual Hayden Kite Festival is scheduled for Saturday, April 27th. Kite fliers will compete in Best of Show, High Flyer and Best Homemade kite.

The festival will take place at Broadmoore Park from 12:00p.m. – 2:30p.m. The festival is free and open to all ages.

Most play productions feature about 12 to 20 speaking roles, this play features 53. Most casting directors have days to select their cast, this production has an hour.

The degree of difficulty is at an all-time high when the Christian Youth Theater of North Idaho puts on its 4th annual Play in a Day – a children's theater production that spans just over 24 hours from casting to performance.

According to director Jeff Rocco, 117 kids between 8 and 18 signed up to perform in this year's play, which will be at 7:30 p.m. in the theater at the Ray and Joan Kroc Center in Coeur d'Alene. There are also 23 kids who signed up to be on the crew, which has to build a set overnight.

“It's no fun if you don't use them (the children) all,” Rocco said.
