The Pacific Northwest's largest outdoor powwow kicks off Thursday in Post Falls. Julyamsh, pronounced July-umpsh, is a four-day powwow that combines many of the tribes around the northwest for a celebration.
The Coeur d'Alene tribe will host the event that includes dancing and art at the Greyhound Park and Event Center in Post Falls.
Julyamsh committee member Cliff Sijohn says the event is a chance for the tribes to learn from each other and enjoy each other's company.
The event is free, but parking is $5. They expect between 8,000 and 10,000 people. Here's a schedule of events:
