So how was Florence Wasmer able to accomplish such a wonderful thing and who did she give to? 

First of all, Florence Wasmer loved music and was very interested in young people receivng a musical education.  She was a violinist and played in the chamber orchestra in the Italian Gardens restaurant in the Davenport Hotel.  Florence was married to Louis Wasmer who brought KHQ radio from Seattle to Spokane in 1925. When Louis died, Florence established the Wasmer Foundation and after Florence's death, the Wasmer Foundation were transferred to INWCF (Inland Northwest Community Foundation).

Today, the Florence Wasmer Fund for Children and Families at INWCF is awarding 24 grants totalling $114,400 to nonprofit organizations in Eastern Washington and North Idaho.  Some of the grant recipients are Second Judicial District CASA Program, Inc., $5,000; Spokane Symphony society, $10,000; Festival at Sandpoint, $4,000; Association for Handicapped Recreation, $4,200 and many others.
