New Additions to Idaho Ski Resorts In Time for Winter Season

Schweitzer Mountain Resort

Schweitzer Mountain Resort Skiers now have an extra 1,200+ acres of tree skiing after crews thinned some of the trees located to the right of Ridge Run below the Basin Trail.

Another addition includes an installed zip line stretching over 700’ in length. The Resort hopes to have it running for both the winter and summer season.

Schweitzer pass holders hoping to travel north for a winter excursion can ski at Whitewater Ski Resort in Nelson, British Columbia thanks to a partnership.

Feds Start Foreclosure Proceedings on Rep. Phil Hart's Athol Home

Feds Start Foreclosure Proceedings on Rep. Phil Hart's Athol Home

Idaho Rep. Phil hart is now facing foreclosure on his Athol, Idaho home after years of refusing to pay taxes.  He's been fighting federal and state governments for years, saying income taxes are unconstitutional.  The federal government says he owes nearly $550,000 in taxes and fees, and they want to use the sale of his home to pay the debt.

Hart transferred the title of his property out of his name in an attempt to avoid the proceedings, which the U.S. Department of Justice called "fradulent".

The four-term legislator built the home with timber he took illegally from state land in the 1990s.

Clark Fork's Field Of Dreams

Clark Fork's Field Of Dreams

The original Yankee Stadium was known as the “House That Ruth Built.” Babe Ruth let the hickory wood of his bat do the work as the New York Yankees began their winning tradition during the 1920’s.

In Clark Fork, Idaho, Willy Seay, Ron Seay and Will Seay are letting 14 cords of Birch wood do all the work as the trio takes up the task of renovating Clark Fork’s Memorial Field.  The field has been overtaken by knapweed, the baselines are non-exsistant, and a player sliding into any of the bases risks a layer of skin if not sprained or broken body parts.

Local Artists Make Fashion Out of Trash

Local Artists Make Fashion Out of Trash

For one night this month, North Idaho was too sexy for Milan, New York and Japan. The Idaho Panhandle got their share of eco-friendly attire on Friday, October 14th, during a sold-out fashion show. The runway photos are in.

Every year, Kootenai Environmental Alliance hosts Junk2Funk, a collection of runway fashion created from trash and recycled materials.

Local artists used a menagerie of materials including candy wrappers, paper bags and used bike tubes.

Photo Gallery: That might not sound like fashion, but take a look at the photos from the event and you’ll think otherwise.

Mead HS Students Raising Money for Student Knocked into Coma

Mead HS Students Raising Money for Student Knocked into Coma

Two Mead High School seniors have spearheaded an effort to raise money for Bobby Clark. Clark was injured earlier this fall while playing football for Priest River High School in Idaho. His Cousin told KXLY that Clark was taken to the hospital after being knocked out, and put into a medically induced coma.

Senior Kryssa Tate says a group of students heard about Clark's story and wanted to help. They obtained 250 rubber bracelets with messages like "Kindness is Our Weapon of Choice." The group has sold more than 125 of them at lunches and in classrooms, and they are hoping to buy more to sell. Tate, who's part of the Future Career and Community Leaders of America, said the group is working to incorporate other high schools to raise money for Clark.
